Injury Report: Hawks vs Grizzlies

The Hawks and Grizzlies will be without some key players in tomorrow's matchup

The Hawks will be on the road tomorrow night to face the Memphis Grizzlies and it will be a matchup of two of the NBA's most injured teams.

The Grizzlies have been missing Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, and Marcus Smart for some time and that will still be the case tomorrow night.

The Hawks are going to be without Trae Young (left fifth finger torn ligament), Onyeka Okongwu (left big toe sprain/sesamoiditis), Jalen Johnson, and Kobe Bufkin.

The Hawks provided an update on Johnson earlier today after he exited last night's win vs Cleveland with a right ankle injury:

"Forward Jalen Johnson left last night’s game vs. Cleveland in the third quarter with a right ankle injury. X-rays taken at State Farm Arena were negative, and he has been diagnosed with a right ankle sprain. He will not travel with the team for tomorrow’s game at Memphis, and his status is day-to-day."

They also provided an update on Bufkin, who looks like he will be out for a longer period of time:

"Guard Kobe Bufkin (left big toe injury) underwent an MRI on Monday in New York, and had a follow-up examination with Hawks team physicians last night at State Farm Arena. He has been diagnosed with a left big toe sprain. Bufkin will be in a walking boot for the next 10 days, and his status will be updated as appropriate."

The Hawks also had this to say about Okongwu's injury:

"Center Onyeka Okongwu (left big toe sprain/sesamoiditis) has transitioned out of a walking boot. He will be re-evaluated in seven-to-10 days and his status will be updated as appropriate."

With Trae Young out, Kobe Bufkin had begun to take over the backup point guard duties and he was playing well on defense. Hopefully, he will be able to return at some point this season as the Hawks make a push for the NBA Play-In Tournament.
