Media Personality Colin Cowherd Thinks Steve Kerr Is On Same Level As Pat Riley

Colin Cowherd calls Steve Kerr a top-five person in league history, putting him in company with Miami Heat team president Pat Riley

Media personality Colin Cowherd gave praise to Golden State Warriors Steve Kerr on his podcast Monday.

He said Kerr is making his way toward achieving the status of Miami Heat team president Pat Riley.

“He is one of the most significant people in league history,” Cowherd said about Kerr. “He’s moving into a Pat Riley stage where I’m like, `this is an all-time top-five guy in league history.'"

Like Riley, Kerr has won at multiple stages of his career. He is a five-time champion as player, winning three with the Chicago Bulls from 1996-98 and two as a member of the San Antonio Spurs (1999, 2003). Kerr has also won four titles with the Warriors in six NBA Finals appearances.

The only area Kerr is lacking from Riley is success at the executive level. Aside from winning a title as a player (one with the Los Angeles Lakers) and five as a coach with the Lakers and Heat, Riley has developed into one of the top execs in league history. He won two more titles in the front office, earning NBA Executive of the Year in 2011 after helping the Heat secure LeBron James and Chris Bosh the previous summer.

Kerr may not be in Riley's class yet but he could have that opportunity if he goes into management after his coaching days are done. Regardless, both have been influential people for multiple franchises.

The course of the NBA would look very different without them.
