Bam Adebayo, Others Will Prevent Myles Turner’s Promise To Make All-Star Game

Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner is regarded as one of the NBA’s best interior defenders.

When discussing All-Star game selections, interior defense is not a topic that comes to mind. In the Eastern Conference, the likes of Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo, Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid, and Toronto Raptors Pascal Siakam are mentioned for their contributions on the offensive end.

Despite this, Turner recently claimed on the Run Your Race podcast, "Y’all gonna see me there," when referring to the All-Star game in Indiana next season.

"I’m excited for the All-Star game, obviously. That’s gonna be in Indiana this year," Turner said. "Y’all gonna see me there, by the way. You heard it here first."

Adebayo potentially poses the biggest threat to Turner’s promise because of their defensive similarities. Except Adebayo outperformed Turner in most offensive categories last season. Last season, Turner averaged 18.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks.

The dependency of fan voting for the All-Star game does not work in Turner’s favor due to being on a small market team and non-flashy playstyle.

The removal of the Eastern Conference against Western Conference format hurts his odds, forcing him to compete with Nikola Jokic, Domantas Sabonis, and many others.
