In this story:

To many, Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler is a lock for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

To others, he’s knocking on the doorstep. What more would need to happen to convince the non-believers?

Butler is a six-time All-Star with five All-Defensive Team selections. He’s one of the league’s most historic playoff performers, with some comparing him to Michael Jordan with his explosive postseason games. The Heat's 2023 Finals run was an illustration of Butler elevating the team since his arrival. A championship, paired with a few more All-Star selections, should persuade doubters.

Then again, some have him far from the conversation due to lack of accolades. Butler has yet to win a regular season MVP, or even make the First Team All-NBA. He’s never led the league in any category except for steals once in 2021. He’s barely top 200 all-time in points and just outside top 40 in playoff scoring.

Still, this argument could be made for many players. Many Hall of Famers rarely led the league in any statistical categories, and rank similar to Butler on the all-time lists. The Basketball Hall of Fame recognizes those who consistently perform at the highest level, which Butler has done throughout his career.

Should he win a ring soon, this conversation may be all but finished.
