Inside the Hive: Michael Scotto Discusses Potential Front Office Changes in Charlotte

Are the Charlotte Hornets on the verge of making a change?

Mitch Kupchak signed a multi-year contract extension with the Charlotte Hornets in 2022, but with new ownership in place it feels like a matter of when, not if a move is made in the front office.

There had been some rumblings that a change could be made at the beginning of January, but obviously nothing has happened to this point.

In a recent episode of Inside the Hive on the All Hornets Podcast Network, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype stated that he expects change down the road and that the Hornets will likely remain quiet at the trade deadline because of it.

"Some people wondered if it would be before the deadline but as of now, when you're a month away, it would logically seem like that's going to be after the trade deadline with not necessarily a lot of moves for the Hornets. Unless they do something that's on the minor scale that's small. But a blockbuster Hornets trade? I don't know if that's necessarily...I'd be a little surprised if it happened. Obviously if that happens, you need the blessing of ownership."

Scotto also threw out a couple of names to watch for if the GM spot does open up - Travis Schlenk (Washington Wizards VP of Player Personnel) and Jeff Peterson (Brooklyn Nets Asst. GM). Both have ties to the Hornets' new ownership due to their time with the Atlanta Hawks.
