Kelly Oubre Labels Former Team as Having “No Hope”

Kelly Oubre speaks out.

Media days across the league commenced today. For the first time this season, players get a chance in front of a microphone to talk to members of the media. Kelly Oubre Jr., now a Philadelphia 76er, spoke about his time in Charlotte.

Oubre signed a 1 year, $2.8 million deal to play for a Sixers team that has championship aspirations. At his media day availability, Oubre stated that he's glad that he can finally play for a winning team after having played for a team with "no hope."

"This team wins every year. Right? The fan base wants them to win more, but i come from teams where they have no hope. Like zero hope within the whole city and that's not this at all. So I appreciate the fan base for being hard on the team."

Oubre said later when talking about Charlotte, "this is probably the most fun I've had in my career playing basketball."

It seems like Oubre was keen on returning to Charlotte, but Charlotte didn't return the interest. "I wanted to go somewhere I was wanted...you go where you're wanted, and you go where you're loved" said Oubre.

Charlotte will definitely miss Oubre's scoring ability off the bench. But thankfully for Oubre, the veteran swingman seems to be excited for the opportunity to play a consistent role on an eastern conference power.
