Two Candidates Linked to Potentially Join Jeff Peterson in Charlotte Front Office Upheaval

Both candidates from the Nets and Kings have previously worked with Peterson

Less than 24 hours after news broke of Jeff Peterson being appointed to lead the Hornets' front office, more names are quickly emerging who could join in in Charlotte.

According to Ian Begley, a reporter for SNY TV who covers the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, he "Wouldn't be surprised" if Sacramento Kings Assistant GM Wes Wilcox joined Peterson in Charlotte's new front office.

Wilcox held roles as Assistant GM and General Manager with the Atlanta Hawks, coinciding with Peterson's tenure in Atlanta. Following a loss to the Wizards in the 2017 playoffs, he moved into a "Special Advisor" role before becoming Assistant GM with the Sacramento Kings in 2020. Wilcox was among the names first reported by ESPN linked to the Hornets front office after Kupchak announced he was stepping down.

Yesterday, Rod Boone of the Charlotte Observer reported that "One league source suggest(ed) Matt Tellem (Vice President of Strategy) could join Peterson in Charlotte".

Tellem, another young front office staffer at just 35 years of age, is the son of former super-agent and Detroit Pistons Vice Chairman Arm Tellem. Matt Tellem is well respected for his expertise in the NBA's salary cap and also leads on the Long Island Nets G-League Operations
