Kings Win Against Spurs in Fourth Quarter Thriller

The Sacramento Kings managed to close out a narrow victory against San Antonio on Thursday night.

After both were snubbed from the All-Star game, the Sacramento Kings' duo of De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis showed out in a big home win against the San Antonio Spurs. Down late in the fourth quarter, the Kings ended the game on an 11-2 run to secure a 127-122 victory.

Sabonis recorded his 19th triple-double this season, showing out against Spurs star rookie C Victor Wembanyama. Leading the league in triple-doubles, Domas continues to put his well-rounded game on full display and is now looking to help boost the squad up the Western Conference rankings.

In the backcourt, Fox put on another clutch time clinic to put Sacramento nine games above .500 on the season. In the span of 50 seconds, Fox hit a step back three to take the lead, threw a perfect lob to Keegan Murray, blocked a Devin Vassell dunk attempt, then drained a pullup jumper to take a five-point lead.

Off the bench, G Malik Monk showed once again why he's the best sixth-man in the NBA. With eight fourth quarter points, he and Fox stepped up late to light the beam in Golden 1 Center once again. For the rest of bench unit, it was another dull performance. Outside of Monk, the bench contributed 14 total points for the team while shooting 33% on the night.

For San Antonio, the young duo of Devin Vassell and Victor Wembanyama kept their team in the game until the final moments. Vassell dropped 32 points on the night, coming up just four short of his career best performance. Kings HC Mike Brown talked about how difficult Vassell made it for his team to get a win (via @SeanCunningham | X):

I thought Vassell was really, really good. He was a handful for us tonight, he had tough shot, after tough shot, after tough shot. I thought some of them that he hit were, man, they were contested. I mean that three that he hit across from their bench with about two minutes to go in the game, that was just a big-time shot.

Coach Brown's side will hit the road to southern California as his team takes on the third place Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night. The Kings will look to make it a three-game winning streak against a star-studded lineup that includes Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Paul George.
