Why Knicks Could (and Should) Trade Into NBA Draft
Heading into tonight's NBA Draft in Brooklyn (8 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN), the New York Knicks don't have a single pick. However, that could change before the night is over.
The Knicks, along with the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers, are the only teams without a pick going into the night. However, Bleacher Report, listing every team's draft night priority, believes the Knicks could move into the conversation to take a rookie or two tonight.
"The problem is that New York doesn't currently have a pick in 2023," Andy Bailey writes. "With four 2024 first-rounders, it shouldn't be terribly difficult for the Knicks to force their way in."
If there's a need for the Knicks going into tonight, it's three-point shooting.
During the regular season, the Knicks were tied for 19th in three-point shooting with a 35.4 percent success rate. However, that number dipped in the playoffs, to the point where they were dead last among the 16 postseason competitors and was a big reason behind their second-round elimination at the hands of the Miami Heat (shooting less than 30 percent in the six-game series loss).
It's likelier that the Knicks use free agency to fill that need, but injecting some youth into the team after not having a first-round pick last year wouldn't be a terrible idea.
