Knicks' Jalen Brunson to Shoot in 3-Point Contest

Newly-minted NBA All-Star Jalen Brunson will look to become the first New York Knick to win the accompanying 3-Point Contest.

Jalen Brunson will get to experience it all in his first NBA All-Star Weekend.

According to TNT Sports' Chris Haynes, the New York Knicks point guard has accepted an invitation to the next 3-Point Contest on Feb. 17 at Lucas Oil Stadium, becoming the ninth Knicks to partake in the long-distance shootout. Teammate and fellow All-Star Julius Randle was the last to do so and Brunson will look to become the first Knick to win it.

Though he had only one in a 40-point showing on Thursday night, as the Knicks won their ninth in a row with a 109-105 triumph over the Indiana Pacers, Brunson is shooting a career-best 41.7 percent from three so far this season. The 129 he has made this season currently ranks 16th among all NBA shooters. Earlier this season, Brunson tied a single-game NBA record with nine threes without a miss en route to a 50-point outing in a December win over Phoenix.

Brunson will be looking to redeem Randle's first-round exit in the Three-Point Contest last season, though the latter was only there as an injury replacement. He will also be trying to dethrone the reigning champion of the competition, Milwaukee's Damian Lillard, who earned a starting nod over Brunson in the Eastern Conference starting five. Brunson won't be the only New Yorker partaking in a long-distance shootout: Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu will face Golden State's Stephen Curry in a one-on-one competition between outside shooting royalty for their respective charities.

In the meantime, Brunson and the Knicks (32-17) will look for their 10th straight victory on Saturday when they host the Los Angeles Lakers (8:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
