After Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James played 38:38 and star center Anthony Davis suited up for 42:05 during LA's unnecessarily close 135-133 overtime win over the Utah Jazz last night, yours truly suspected they may sit out tonight's action.

Now, the Lakers' latest injury report seems to confirm that distinct possibility. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that both James (right foot tendon tear recovery) and Davis (right foot stress injury recovery) will be game-time decisions ahead of this evening's battle against the Los Angeles Clippers, who currently sport an identical 41-38 record.

In happier health news, however, it appears that starting Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell, who sat out last night's game with a sore left foot, and backup center Mo Bamba, who's missed a month with a high left ankle sprain, are both considered probable to suit up, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

This is a critical game for the Lakers. It's just unfortunate that it's arriving on the second night of a back-to-back pair of contests, against a much more rested Clippers club that hasn't suited up since last Saturday.

Davis in particular has been on a major heater during the team's current road trip, so his two-way absence would be deeply felt. In the first four contests of this run, AD is averaging 34.3 points on 61% field goal shooting, 12.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.3 steals a night.
