Los Angeles Lakers star center Anthony Davis was in the running for Western Conference Player Of The Week honors for the week that ran from March 6th-12th, despite having two mediocre games during that span (on the 10th, against the Toronto Raptors, and the 12th, in a loss to the New York Knicks), per the NBA's PR team.

Player Of The Week honors obviously precede Player Of The Month awards, so the fact that AD was at least a contender means he could be in the mix for such hardware, should his play maintain its current consistency and the Lakers continue to win.

In the West, Sacramento Kings All-Star center/power forward Domantas Sabonis was named Player Of The Week. The Kings went 3-0 during that stretch, as Sabonis nearly tallied a triple-double, notching 20 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game

The Eastern Conference Player Of The Week is another big man, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, who remains one of the top three MVP candidates this season along with Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee Bucks power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. Embiid averaged 38.5 points (!), 6.8 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks a night as Philly went 4-0 last week.

Davis' other competition in the West last week was Phoenix Suns All-Star shooting guard Devin Booker, Los Angeles Clippers small forward Kawhi Leonard, and... Talen Horton-Tucker. No, seriously.

In the aforementioned window, Davis averaged 18.3 points on .548/.333/571 shooting splits, 15.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 blocks. He registered a +7.3 across his three games last week, during which LA went 2-1.
