Your 36-37 Los Angeles Lakers were dealt yet another bummer of an injury blow, when it was revealed that starting point guard D'Angelo Russell would ultimately sit out tonight's game against the 36-37 Oklahoma City Thunder with what's being called a sore right hip.

Head coach Darvin Ham offered up sort of a cagey explanation of just how severe the ailment is, but noted that the 6'4" lead guard would be considered day-to-day going forward. LA has just nine games left in its season, including tonight.

Happily, LA also received some more upbeat health news tonight, too. Starting Lakers center Anthony Davis is set to take the floor tonight and press through his right foot stress injury, which the Los Angeles medical staff deems to be an active ailment. He had previously been considered merely "probable" to play.

D-Lo is just the latest in a string of disappointing rotation player absences. All-Star small forward LeBron James remains out indefinitely with his right foot tendon injury, and backup five Mo Bamba could be done for the rest of the regular season with his left ankle sprain. Two-way players Scotty Pippen Jr. and Cole Swider are also sidelined, as is their custom (they've each only played six games this season).

All-Star Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is unfortunately going to suit up after all, despite Oklahoma City revealed that he was dealing with an abdominal strain. Chet Holmgren and Kenrich Williams remain on the shelf as they continue to recover from their respective surgeries.

The action tips off tonight at 7:30 p.m. on Spectrum SportsNet.
