En route to what would become a dominant first game performance against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum, Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis had to depart the contest during its first half after suffering a right shoulder nerve impingement while wrestling with Memphis Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr.

Given that Davis seems to hurt something at least twice a game, LA fans at home were understandably fearful. But Davis returned and helped lead the Lakers to a 128-112 upset victory over the Grizzlies in the second half

He finished with a terrific two-way night. 22 points while shooting 10-of-17 from the field and 2-of-2 from the foul line, grabbed 12 rebounds, blocked a playoff career high seven shots, dished out three dimes and swiped three steals.

Davis spoke with reporters following the game about the status of his shoulder throughout the game.

“Jaren Jackson kind of came down on my shoulder," Davis said. "I'm not sure if he came down or just it or whatever. Had a little stinger where my arm went completely numb. It was weak. I couldn't lift it up or hold it up myself. I couldn’t move it. Then just went to the back early [before the end of the first half]... and just did some strength things, trying to get feeling back, and I was good to go [for the second half].”

One assumes the 6'10" big man has been getting all kinds of treatment during these precious days off and will be ready to go when the second game in this exciting first round matchup tips off tomorrow night.
