Lakers News: Anthony Davis Sets LA History With Crazy Stat

The Brow beasts on his big night.

Last night, All-Star Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis pulled down an eye-popping 25 rebounds while helping power LA to a double-digit victory over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves, 120-109. It was one board short of his career high of 26. He did, however, swipe a career-high seven steals.

Still, he unlocked a special achievement in LA history.

Per Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet, that 25-rebound night stood as the most for a player in purple and gold since his former championship teammate, Dwight Howard, pulled down 26 rebounds in his All-Star days circa January 6th, 2013.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Davis did this while grappling with a sore shoulder.

“I felt it at times out there,” Davis said. “I still kind of feel it.”

LA is now 36-30 on the year. While the club is still the Western Conference's ninth seed, it also sits just two games behind the sixth-place Phoenix Suns.

“I think we’re hitting our stride right now,” Davis said of the team's trajectory, per McMenamin. “We’re just trying to keep going, keep pushing, knowing that just like last year, all we got to do is get in. We feel like it’s tough for anybody to beat us in a seven-game series. … We like our chances against anybody at that point.”
