Lakers News: Darvin Ham Reflects On Latest LA Signing
Your Los Angeles Lakers beefed up their front court as of Saturday, officially.
On Friday, reporters announced that the team had signed former first-round draft pick Harry Giles III to a two-way deal. The Lakers made it official on Saturday.
Lakers head coach Darvin Ham then spoke to reporters and reflected on his team's latest move.
Giles is set to bring some size to the Lakers, whether the NBA or the G-League.
The 6-foot-11 forward was the first-round draft out of Duke University in 2017. Very early on in his basketball career, he suffered from injuries, including a torn ACL in his senior year of high school that sent him down an injury-riddled path.
He was a former five-star recruit and was only a shell of himself as a Blue Devil. He only averaged 3.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in 26 games of action.
Giles only played in one year in college before deciding to go pro.
He's bounced around from team to team after four seasons with the Sacramento Kings. Since 2020, he's been on the Portland Trail Blazers, the Agua Caliente Clippers, the Brooklyn Nets, and now Los Angeles.
In his career, he's averaged 5.6 points on 51.1% shooting from the field, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 156 games.
It's been a whirlwind for the 25-year-old. Hopefully, he gets back on track with the Purple and Gold.
