Lakers News: How LA Can Still Benefit From Terry Rozier-Heat Trade Fallout

There's a silver lining here for the Lakers.

As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN recently reported, the Miami Heat have acquired Terry Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Kyle Lowry and a 2027 first-round pick.

Lowry, 37, is most definitely not a part of the Hornets' long-term plans, and will likely find himself on the buyout market as a result. The 6x All-Star has reached the twilight stage of his career, but he can certainly contribute in different ways as necessary.

The former six-time All-Star remains a good playmaker with an incredibly high basketball IQ, while also being a 38.5% 3-point shooter. His instincts on the defensive side of the ball are also good, enabling him to add value in several different ways.

Assuming he's bought out by the Hornets, the Lakers could definitely take a look. He'd be a solid contributor off the bench and fill a couple holes the team needs, while also adding a wealth of deep playoff experience to an otherwise inexperienced second unit.

Lowry would have to agree to sign on the minimum, which one would imagine he does. That said, Philadelphia is a big team to watch out for, as they don't have a backup point guard, Lowry is from there, and he won a title under now-Sixers head coach Nick Nurse. The Milwaukee Bucks could also benefit from some defense and veteran savvy behind Damian Lillard.
