Lakers News: Spencer Dinwiddie's LA Debut Date Revealed

Dinwiddie will be donning the purple and gold pretty soon.

The Los Angeles Lakers will have a new addition in their next game against the Detroit Pistons.

Their newest piece via the buyout market, point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, is scheduled to sign with LA on Sunday, practice with the team on Monday, and suit up with the team on Tuesday.

ESPN's Dave McMenamin was among the first to report the happy news.

Dinwiddie last played on February 6th as a member of the Brooklyn Nets against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks. In that game, he scored nine points in 35 minutes on four-for-eight shooting, five assists, one rebound, and one steal.

It's unclear what kind of role he will play for the purple and gold to start, but the Lakers are a depleted team at the moment. If he fits in like a puzzle piece, we could see Dinwiddie on the floor much longer than expected. Or he might play a lot just out of necessity.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D'Angelo Russell had nothing but great things to say about the LA native and now teammate after their win on Friday over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The star players wanted him here; Dinwiddie wanted to be here. We'll see how they fit as the Lakers look to make another deep playoff run.
