Lakers News: Whatever Happens In Wednesday's Kings Game, Tiebreaker Already Set

Sacramento has the edge over the Lakers in the playoff race.

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off an incredible weekend slate. Two games against two top teams in the league, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they took care of business on their home floor.

The Lakers have been playing good basketball, more times than not. They stayed afloat aside from this bruising schedule they're at the tail end of. However, their next game won't be easy as they'll face their division rivals for the final time in the regular season, a team they can't seem to beat, the Sacramento Kings.

The Lakers will travel to NorCal to take on their long-time rival, and once again, it is a must-win scenario. It's a big deal for both teams as they try to position themselves for the best seed possible in the playoffs. Nonetheless, whoever comes out on top, the Kings hold the tie-breaker against the purple and gold.

LA has lost its head-to-head tiebreaker. Even if the two teams finish with the same record, the Kings would get the better playoff seed.

Los Angeles is 0-3 against Sacramento this season, and they pose a tough challenge. They have quick, elusive guards who can score the ball at will and a skilled big man in All-Star center Domantas Sabonis. They love to get up and down the court and can shoot the heck out of the ball. When all those things are working, like we saw in their last matchup last Wednesday, we'll be getting that result almost every time.

It's not a great matchup for the Lakers; however, they are long overdue for a win. The Lakers are 1-7 in their last eight games against the Kings, dating back to the 2021-2022 season. LA needs a win desperately, and they'll need to slay the dragon to get over the hump.
