Lakers News: LeBron James & Austin Reaves Making 2023 Preseason Debut Today

Two starters return for LA.

Preseason basketball is underway for your Los Angeles Lakers, and the team will welcome back two starters who missed their first exhibition matchup over the weekend, a 125-108 defeat to the Golden State Warroirs.

LeBron James and Austin Reaves didn't play against the Warriors for the team's first preseason matchup but will suit up against the Nets tonight.

LA struggled last Saturday night against the Warriors and multiple free-agent additions to their roster failed to impress in their initial showing with purple and gold threads.

Cam Reddish exited with an ankle injury, Christian Wood struggled on both ends of the floor and potential starter Taurean Prince didn't help his case with constant foul trouble and poor shooting.

Tonight should make a difference for the Lakers as James and Reaves will play in the second tune-up of a highly anticipated regular season for Darvin Ham's team.

James shot down retirement rumors earlier this summer and enters his sixth season with Los Angeles and a ridiculous 21st overall year as an NBA player.

The veteran hasn't won another championship with LA since the infamous 2020 bubble season but this year's roster may be the best around James since that season.

Part of that great core is Austin Reaves who took part in Team USA's FIBA World Cup this offseason as a key piece on their international roster.

GM Rob Pelinka signed the promising young guard to a four-year extension in free agency and the former Sooner will man the starting shooting guard spot for the Lakers for the foreseeable future.

Both starters will be welcomed back with open arms as LA hopes to rebound from their initial preseason clunker against the new-look Warriors with Chris Paul.
