Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James was almost named the Western Conference's Player Of The Week for the final week of the 2022-23 regular season. Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard ultimately won the honor. James was a runner-up, the NBA announced.

During the week that ended on Sunday, April 9th in LA's victory over the tanking Utah Jazz, James averaged 30.5 points on .505/.486/.800 shooting splits, 6.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks a night across four LA games. Los Angeles went 3-1 in those contests.

The 38-year-old All-Star remains one of the league's best scorers, even in his 20th NBA season. Across 55 games this season, James averaged 28.9 points on .500/.321/.768 shooting splits, 8.3 rebounds, 6.8 asssists and 0.9 steals a night.

James was previously named the NBA's Player Of The Week twice in January. He has been awarded with that honor a league-record 67 times over the course of his 20-year career, over double the amount of his closest competitor, another Lakers legend: Hall of Fame shooting guard Kobe Bryant, who was named Western Conference Player Of The Week 33 times.
