Lakers News: Patrick Beverley Says He Requested Trade Out Of LA

After his trade from the Lakers, Beverley was later picked up by the Chicago Bulls.

Weeks following the excitement of the 2023 NBA trade deadline, former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Patrick Beverley revealed that he was the one who requested out of LA.

Beverley had been traded to the Orlando Magic in a four-team trade involving the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets. Three days after the move, Beverley and the Magic agreed to a contract buyout, and was later picked up by his current team, his hometown Chicago Bulls.

The 34-year-old previously voiced some information regarding his trade decisions on an episode of his podcast on Barstool Sports, The Pat Bev Podcast. Beverley had pointed out before that the Lakers housed inconsistent vibes, which may or may not have played a factor in his decision to request a trade.

Although Beverley has departed from LA, the Lakers were able to benefit from the trade. After all, the team was able to acquire center Mo Bamba when they sent Beverley along with a second-round pick and cash considerations to the Orlando Magic.

Beverley did not add significant value to the Lakers, as he averaged 6.4 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds during his time in LA. Although he was unable to be a prominent player for the Lakers, Beverley hopes to help bring a spark to the Chicago Bulls for the remainder of this season. Since his signing the Bulls have gone 3-1 record, as he has goosed the team's defense with his signature point-of-attack coverage.
