Lakers News: Shaquille O'Neal Believes He And Kobe Bryant Are Best NBA Twosome Ever

Would you take anyone over these two?
In this story:

There has been plenty of star-studded duos across the NBA landscape, especially recently with the formation of super teams. Each duo has their own abilities and has the confidence that they can win any game. But only some have gone on to win the ultimate prize of an NBA title.

One of the greatest duos to ever live was Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers in the early 2000s.

It wasn’t just that the duo was good, but that they dominated their opponents. LA won three straight NBA titles and could have possibly won more if pride didn’t get in the way. The two men made up eventually and had a great relationship before Bryant tragically passed away in 2020.

They are seen as one of the best duos of all time, and O’Neal recently proclaimed that they were indeed the best. He said that he would put them up against anyone over the course of history and honestly, it’s hard to argue against him.

The two men were key players in one of the most dominant stretches of Laker history. The three-peat they accomplished was the last time that any team has done it, and they complimented each other so well.

O'Neal was the power that drove the engine, while Bryant was the fine-tuning aspect that put it all together. O'Neal was already an established star player when he and Bryant got together, so they needed to learn how to play with one another.

Once they did, it was lights out for the rest of the NBA. It was one of the most fun duos to ever play together, and the Lakers were almost unstoppable.

Only Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen with the Chicago Bulls could give them a run for their money in terms of resumes. O'Neal's claim certainly creates discussion, but it's really hard to match what he and Bryant did.
