LeBron James' Son Recruited by Magic; Lakers Star Being Wooed to Orlando?

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James' son Bryce is being recruited by the Orlando Magic at a youth showcase this week. What does it mean for the team moving forward?

The Orlando Magic has faced LeBron James many times over the past 20 years, but now the team is looking to recruit his son.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Magic is one of the teams that scouted Bryce James on the first day of NIKE EYBL's Peach Jam tournament.

“The youngest son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James made his Peach Jam debut Monday afternoon and finished with 12 points (2-for-6 from 3, 4-for-9 from the field) in the Strive For Greatness (California) win over Expressions in the 16-under division, 78-69,” Krysten Peek wrote.

“Scouts from the Lakers, Magic, Cavaliers, Mavericks, Heat, Knicks, Suns, Hawks and other teams all made James a priority on Day 1 of games.”

The youngest James son just turned 16, giving him two years until he graduates high school and three years until he becomes draft-eligible.

James' brother, Bronny, is preparing for his freshman season with the USC Trojans and could be a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Perhaps the Magic's interest in Bryce could reflect the team's potential desire to draft Bronny. LeBron, who has a player option following the season with the Los Angeles Lakers, has expressed interest in the past to play with his son should both of them be in the league at the same time.

"I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny," James said in a January interview with ESPN. "Either in the same uniform or a matchup against him... But I would love to do the whole Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. thing. That would be ideal for sure."

Perhaps this could eventually lead to the entire James family putting on a Magic uniform someday.
