ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic signed the 2023 NBA Dunk Contest champion Mac McClung to a partially-guaranteed contract after he impressed with his shooting last season.

The 24-year-old has only appeared in four NBA games to date, but it's what he has done during his time in the NBA G League that has the Magic interested in him.

Last season, McClung was on a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers and mostly played for their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. He played in 31 games, averaging 19.8 points per game on exceptional shooting.

Among all G League players that played at least 30 games, his 47.4 percent three-point shooting ranked first and his 54.8 percent field goal shooting ranked ninth. Those were significant improvements from his first year in the G League when he shot 46.7 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from deep.

Overall, McClung finished with a 71.6 percent true shooting mark in his time with the Blue Coats. For context, Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic had the highest true shooting percentage in the NBA last season at 70.1 percent.

It's safe to say that there is something there with McClung offensively. If the improvements he made in his season with Delaware can translate to the NBA, he could become a valuable sharpshooting bench piece for Orlando.
