Miye Oni is a former second-round pick that played three seasons with the Utah Jazz, but he is now signing with the Orlando Magic

Oni was selected with the 58th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors, but his draft rights were traded to the Jazz.

He didn't play in an NBA game last season, and was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder before being cut and signing a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans

In 80 career games, Oni has averaged 1.8 points per game, 1.4 rebounds per game and 0.5 assists per game on 35 percent shooting efficiency.

Evidently, after not earning a second contract with the Pelicans, Oni went overseas to play with the London Lions in the British Basketball league. After a year away from the NBA, the 26-year-old is ready to make his return to the league.

The 6-6 wing will be able to battle in training camp for a roster spot. The Magic has 17 rostered players accompanied by a pair of two-way players. Getting another shot at the NBA on a rebuilding team is beneficial to both sides of the deal.

The Magic is maximizing this offseason. They made small tweaks to set themselves up to make a leap this season while maintaining a long-term championship window when that time comes.

The addition of Joe Ingles is a beneficial move that makes the team better now and boosts the development of the rest of the squad. Another thing that's going to help in the short-term and long-term both is the Magic creating a competitive in-house environment in training camp.

Oni's signing is coming just after Trevelin Queen's, another player looking to kickstart his NBA career. They'll be able to elevate the team's bottom half of the roster and whichever players make the final roster will be in proper shape heading into the season.
