Magic PF Paolo Banchero Delivers Message: 'Catch Up Now or Find Out Later'

Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero posted one of the best rookie seasons in recent years. But is the reigning Rookie of the Year still being overlooked?

Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero posted one of the most efficient rookie campaigns in recent history last season. However, is he still not being discussed enough?

Banchero, the 2022 No. 1 overall pick, went on to average 20 points, 6.9 rebounds over 72 games, including a record-breaking 27 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists career debut against the Detroit Pistons

But in large part to the lack of national media attention in Orlando, those unfamiliar likely didn't know that Banchero became just sixth first-year player since the NBA-ABA merger to average at least 19 points, six rebounds and three assists per ESPN - joining join Luka Doncic, Blake Griffin, Grant Hill, Larry Johnson, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Walter Davis.

Along with the aforementioned game against Detroit, where the 20-year-old become the first rookie to post 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in his NBA debut since LeBron James in 2003.

And in response to a lack of overall attention he's generated, Banchero responded in a way that should put the NBA on notice: "Catch up now or find out later."

Alongside a young core of Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr., Jalen Suggs and Cole Anthony, the Magic's 12-win improvement ranked first in the Eastern Conference and third-most in the entire NBA.

And with the additions of rookie guards Anthony Black and Jett Howard to this roster, Banchero may not be the only one with that message for the NBA...
