Magical G League Development: Jett Howard Impressing Orlando Head Coach

Magic rookie Jett Howard has impressed Jamahl Mosley with his development in the G League.

The Orlando Magic have been having a strong start to the season. Still, behind the scenes, rookie Jett Howard has been developing into a solid contributor with Osceola in the G League.

Although not performing under the bright lights of the NBA, Howard's development has earned praise from Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley.

Jett Howard's development has been getting the attention of Orlando Magic's head coach, Jamahl Mosley.

Jett Howard's development has been getting the attention of Orlando Magic's head coach, Jamahl Mosley.

"He's averaging 30-plus minutes, and regardless of our depth, it's going to be hard to match those minutes," Mosley said. "He's playing at a high level. And the great part about the G is that it's so much faster. So you have to catch up to things faster. I think it's benefiting him so much from it. He's getting a lot more comfortable being on the floor, handling the ball more, shooting the ball defensively, and having to stay in front of a lot of those quick guards. So I think that experience with him down there is benefit benefiting him so much."

Playing in Osceola this season, Howard has averaged 20.3 points while shooting 53.5 percent from the field, 34.8 percent from three-point range, and 83.3 percent from the free throw line.

Howard may not be playing in the big leagues yet, but the No. 11 overall pick's development in the G League could be significant for the franchise's future as it looks to continue ascending in the league standings and contend for a championship.

Currently, the Magic hold the No. 8 seed in the NBA and have a promising future, with players like Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs leading one of the most impressive turnarounds in the league. So long as Howard continues to develop in the G League when his moment comes around, he'll be ready to shine and help the team elevate to the next level.
