Osceola Magic Wins Home Opener vs. Texas Legends

The Osceola Magic, led by Mac McClung, won the team's inaugural home opener against the Texas Legends 136-129.

OSCEOLA - Magic history has been made. The NBA franchise's G League affiliate, the  Osceola Magic, won the team's inaugural home opener against the Texas Legends by a score of 136-129.

On a day that featured storms in the area, the Magic got off to a lightning-fast start, leading from tipoff in a dominant fashion and securing the team's first win of the season to move them to 1-2 on the season.

In the first half, Osceola had four of its five starters scoring points in the double-digits, with guard Brandon Williams continuing his scorching hot start as a scorer this season by dropping 19 points in the first half. Entering the game, he led the Magic with an average of 29.5 points per game. Against the Legends, he would score 28 points, but he was upstaged in scoring by a teammate in this contest.

Mac McClung

The Osceola Magic secured its first win of the season thanks in large part to the contributions of guard Mac McClung.

It was the reigning NBA Dunk Contest Champion, Mac McClung, who finished as the game's leading scorer with 35 points and displayed multiple highlight reel-worthy no-look passes en route to six total assists.

Although Osceola never trailed, that doesn't mean it coasted to an easy victory. With just over a minute left in the game, Texas cut the lead down to five points, but a dagger three from Williams would ice the game and kill any chance of a comeback win for the Legends.

Thousands of fans attended the first game at Silver Spurs Arena in Heritage Park and were loud from start to finish as they supported their new hometown team. The Magic will be at home again on Friday versus the Memphis Hustle.
