Mavs' Kyrie Irving, Lakers’ LeBron James Among USA Basketball Player Pool for 2024 Paris Olympics

Mavs superstar Kyrie Irving is among the 41-player pool to be selected by USA Basketball.

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have the potential to be well-represented at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Kyrie Irving was included in a 41-player pool by USA Basketball to pick from before bringing 12 players to compete this summer. 

Irving was joined by a list of names that included 12 other superstars who have won a gold medal with USA Basketball in the past, including Kevin Durant (three), LeBron James (two), Chris Paul (two), Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, Damian Lillard, Devin Booker, James Harden, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Jrue Holiday, and Paul George.

Other players included in the USA Basketball player pool include Jarrett Allen, Paolo Banchero, Desmond Bane, Scottie Barnes, Mikal Bridges, Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Alex Caruso, Anthony Edwards, De’Aaron Fox, Aaron Gordon, Tyrese Haliburton, Josh Hart, Tyler Herro, Chet Holmgren, Brandon Ingram, Jaren Jackson Jr., Cam Johnson, Walker Kessler, Kawhi Leonard, Donovan Mitchell, Bobby Portis, Austin Reaves, Duncan Robinson, Derrick White, and Trae Young. 

Irving has a history of leading USA Basketball to success, including winning Gold at the 2014 FIBA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. 

Luka Doncic must make it out of the pre-Olympic qualifiers in a competitive pool of teams for Slovenia to qualify for a spot in Paris. Doncic's squad finished seventh at the FIBA World Cup, coming short of automatic qualification among European nations. 

After qualifying out of the Oceanic region for an Olympic spot, Josh Green and Dante Exum will participate with Australia. Dwight Powell could be another participant with Canada.
