NBA Champion Makes Shocking Statement About Toughest Player to Guard

Bruce Brown has faced many players, but his answer will shock you.

NBA Champion Bruce Brown was a key defender for the Denver Nuggets' championship run against multiple superstar players. He's had to guard the likes of Devin Booker, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant, but there are two surprisingly players he finds the most difficult to guard.

In an episode of Run Your Race with Theo Pinson, Bruce Brown revealed that the two toughest players he had to guard all of the 2022-23 NBA season were Anthony Edwards and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

"Ant is O.D.," Brown said. "I would say this year, the toughest players to guard was Ant and Shai."

For those that may not know, O.D. is a way to say that a player is really good. He's next level, he's overdoing it, and he's hard too difficult to stop.

"[He's] doing everything though," Brown said about Anthony Edwards. "All three levels."

Looking at the NBA's scoring leaders, it makes sense to have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander listed as one of the hardest players to guard. He was fourth on the NBA's scoring list, and averaged 31.4 points a game, looking unstoppable at many points.

Anthony Edwards on the other hand, is a more interesting example. Edwards is 16th on the NBA's scoring list, averaging 24.6 points a game, but he has moments of intense scoring bursts where he seems absolutely unstoppable. The moment that Brown is speaking about in particular, was one of his patented scoring bursts in the playoffs.

If there's one player that the Denver Nuggets are going to truly miss in the playoffs this upcoming season, it's Bruce Brown. Denver is going to desperately miss his defense, but they should still be the championship favorites in the western conference.
