Nikola Jokic Gives Amazing Praise to Rising NBA Star
Many have compared Alperen Sengun to Nikola Jokic, with most specifically calling Sengun a "baby Jokic." What makes the comparisons even better, is that Jokic is actually a fan of the young Rockets center.
Last season, Jokic stated that he believed the Rockets should play more through Sengun in what was a massive compliment.
“I think he’s very talented," Jokic said last season. "It might sound weird, but I think they should play through him more. Because sometimes they seem too stagnant as a team. Especially when they focus on shooting a lot of threes“.
Just one season later, the Houston Rockets are now playing much more through their young Turkish center, and Jokic is a fan of what he's seeing.
"I think it is a good thing that they are playing a little bit more through him," Jokic said. "I think that is going to benefit the whole organization. He is a guy who is not selfish. He wants to play for the team and he wants to pass. The whole team is going to move when the ball is in his hands. He played really good today."
In tonight's battle, both Jokic and Sengun put up some fantastic numbers. Jokic put up an insane 36 points, 21 rebounds, 11 assists, and 3 turnovers on 50/33/100 shooting. On the opposing side, Sengun put up 23 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks on 50/0/83 shooting.
Make no mistake, these two centers will have some more amazing battles to come during this decade, and it's going to be fun.
