All season long, NBA analysts went back and forth between who should win the MVP award this season. Some said it should have been Nikola Jokic, some said it should have been Giannis Antetokounmpo, and many said it should have been Joel Embiid. It looks like Jokic himself has an opinion on it now too.

After the Denver Nuggets swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, Nikola Jokic was asked about the MVP award yet again. He gave a very shocking and candid response about the award.

"I don't think about MVPs anymore," Jokic said. "People are just mean in saying that Embiid shouldn’t have won it. I think he should have won it. I think he was playing, if you watched it, extremely tough basketball through the whole season. He was really amazing in 82 games, or however many games he played."

It says a lot about who Nikola Jokic is as a person to claim that Embiid should have won the award. Especially, after the playoff performance Jokic just had that led him to the NBA Finals. He could have very easily said that his playoff performance speaks for itself and that he deserves the award, but Jokic went the exact opposite path.

What matters most for Nikola Jokic now is winning an NBA Championship with the Denver Nuggets. Whether he gets a Finals MVP award or not is great, but there is one clear goal in mind.
