Nuggets Champion Gets Honest About Leaving Team in Free Agency

Leaving a championship team is always a hard decision.

Jeff Green may not be a member of the Denver Nuggets anymore, but he'll always be a Denver Nugget for life. Winning the first NBA championship in franchise history for a team is something that immortalizes a player, and it's something that immortalized Jeff Green.

The Denver Nuggets may not have re-signed Jeff Green as he left for the Rockets in free agency for a $16,000,000 contract, but he holds no ill will toward the franchise. Bennett Durando of The Denver Post spoke with Green, where he spoke very candidly about leaving Denver.

“It’s very hard (to leave), especially when you do what we did last year,” Green said last week in Houston. “You create a bond, and that’s something that’s forever. And the relationships that were built last year off the journey that we had, it’s tough to kind of deter away from that. But at the end of the day, it’s a business. At the end of the day, you have to make choices for yourself and for your family. And that’s what happened. But it’s no ill will toward anybody over there."

After losing the last two games to the Houston Rockets this season, the Denver Nuggets finally got their revenge last night. With the return of Jamal Murray, the team finally looked like the dominant group they were at the start of the season.
