Before we get into our Spurs vs. Pelicans player props, let’s go through how we see the game playing out overall. Despite all the hype around Wembanyama and how well he’s looked, San Antonio is simply not a complete team.
They’re sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference, and to make matters worse, they’ll be on the second night of a back-to-back. They were at home last night, but now they’ll have to deal with Zion Williamson and company on the road. Wembanyama has been trying to carry this Spurs team on his back as a teenager, but he couldn’t have a worse matchup.
The biggest knock on the Frenchman is his lack of overall size - of course, not height - and now he faces two monsters down low in Zion and Jonas Valanciunas. Wembanyama may give the Spurs a better chance at wins this season, but they’ve lost five straight against the Pelicans, and are 0-5 against the spread in those losses.
