2024 NBA Draft: USC Star Could be in Play for Detroit Pistons

A USC star has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft.

With the 2023-2024 NBA season concluding after this week, the Detroit Pistons will put all of their focus on the 2024 NBA Draft.

As the Pistons are likely to finish at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, they are in play to garner a top pick in the draft — if not the first-overall.

With the current draft pool coming together, the Pistons are able to start adding prospects to their big board as the lottery inches closer. And on Wednesday, one of the NBA’s top incoming prospects, Isaiah Collier, declared for the draft.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Collier plans to go one-and-done, as he’s hired an agent in preparation for the upcoming draft.

The USC star entered 2023-2024 NCAA season as a projected top pick. Early on, Collier was viewed as a potential No. 1 overall pick. As time progressed, Collier’s stock took a slight hit. However, he remains a notable lottery prospect after his freshman effort with the Trojans.

Collier appeared in 27 games, spending an average of 30 minutes on the court. He averaged 16 points on 49 percent shooting from the field. From deep, Collier attempted three attempts per game, knocking down 34 percent of his threes. He carries a true shooting percentage of 57.5.

Along with his scoring, Collier averaged four assists, three rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. He turned the ball over 3.3 times per game.

The Pistons’ popular picks in mock draft have typically been prospects who are in the front court. Depending on what Collier showcases during the pre-draft process, there is a chance for him to pop up on the Pistons’ radar as they are likely to go for the best prospect available.
