Bronny James Draws Draft Comparison to Detroit Pistons Forward
Bronny James has been compared to a Detroit Pistons veteran.
Last week, Bronny James stunned the basketball world when he declared for the 2024 NBA Draft. In a recent breakdown of the guard prospect, one of his pro comparisons was a member of the Detroit Pistons.
As of now, it remains unknown if Bronny will actually be part of the 2024 class. While he did declare for the draft, he also entered the NCAA transfer portal. The son of LeBron James is expected to workout for NBA teams and assess his draft stock before making a final decision.
Following this news, Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report did a complete breakdown of the USC freshman. For one of his NBA comps, Pistons forward Quentin Grimes was mentioned. This is largely due to Bronny’s three-and-D complementary style of play.
Bronny’s college career started off on a tragic note when he suffered cardiac arrest during a workout over the summer. That said, he managed to overcome the situation and still play this year. In 25 games for USC, Bronny posted averages of 4.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, and 2.1 APG.
Quentin Grimes began this season with the New York Knicks, but was one of the many new faces the Pistons brought in at the deadline. He was acquired alongside Evan Fournier and Malachi Flynn in the Bojan Bogdanovic/Alec Burks trade.
Grimes was dealing with a knee injury when he came over from New York, and it has limited his time on the court for his new team. Since the deadline, Grimes has only appeared in six games for the Pistons. Detroit ended up making the decision to shut him down for the remainder of the season at the end of March.
Even though the Pistons didn’t get to see much of Grimes up close, they still expect the young guard/forward to be a key piece for them moving forward.
