Spencer Dinwiddie's Toronto Raptors career didn't last long.

The organization has reportedly waived Dinwiddie to avoid the $1.5 million contract bonus he was set to earn this season, per Shams Charania. Toronto acquired Dinwiddie from the Brooklyn Nets in a deal for Dennis Schröder and Thad Young ahead of the 3 p.m. trade deadline Thursday.

Dinwiddie was essentially an expiring contract for Toronto to allow the Raptors to free up an additional $13 million in salary cap space for this summer by getting off Schröder's salary for next season.

The 30-year-old combo guard had averaged 12.6 points, 6.0 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game this season for Brooklyn.

Dinwiddie wasn't going to fit in Toronto's long-term vision for the future. His age and inability to space the floor would have been a strange fit alongside Scottie Barnes.

The Raptors wrapped up the trade deadline by acquiring Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji from the Utah Jazz. Schröder, Young, Kira Lewis Jr., and Otto Porter Jr. were all traded ahead of the deadline.
