"In partnership with Toyota, we are always looking for different ways to elevate this day of service," president Gretchen Sheirr said. "This is a day for everyone to come enjoy themselves, and for us to say thank you."

This year’s luncheon recognized women in leadership positions and those who have demonstrated exceptional bravery while on duty. The Rockets presented four women with the Hero Award for their outstanding career accomplishments, commitment to serving their country and remarkable courage and selflessness.

In addition to the luncheon, Rockets staff visited Houston area fire stations and local police stations throughout the day. The staff members thanked them for their service and distributed tickets and gear to first responders.

"For this group of people, it is important for us to say thank you for their services," general manager Rafael Stone said. "All of us, we rely on them to keep us safe. I appreciate them greatly. This is a really good day for us."
