NBA Trade Idea: Warriors PG Jordan Poole to Spurs?

The San Antonio Spurs could use an upgrade or two this offseason. Would they be interested in a trade for Golden State Warriors guard Jordan Poole?

With one of the worst records in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs won't be making the playoffs this season.

Despite undergoing the undeniable rebuild, one trade suggests jumpstarting the Spurs' competitive trajectory. Golden State Warriors young guard Jordan Poole comes into play in a hypothetical deal from NBA Analysis Network.

The trade in question: Golden State Warriors would receive Doug McDermott, Devonte' Graham, a 2024 first-round pick via the Toronto Raptors, a 2025 first-round pick via the Atlanta Hawks, 2026 first-round pick via San Antonio for Poole.

For a team like the Warriors, waist deep in luxury tax, such a trade would make sense for them. While nowhere near their production last season, as long as the Warriors have Stephen Curry, they can win the NBA championship again. Utilizing the aforementioned draft picks would surely net Golden State a vital piece to prolong the Warriors' dynasty.

The Spurs gain nearly nothing in return, though. Aside from taking on Poole's $123 million deal, the Spurs would lose assets for obtaining a genuine star down the line. Poole's presence on the Warriors lacks the impact indicative of their losing record without superstar Stephen Curry. Poole is merely static, supported by Curry's electric play and Draymond Green's elite defense.

Why trade the farm for such a player? Consider diving for Poole an irresponsible activity for the Spurs.
