Spurs Trade Josh Richardson to Pelicans for Devonte' Graham, Draft Picks

The San Antonio Spurs have made a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, sending Josh Richardson to The Big Easy in exchange for Devonte' Graham and multiple draft picks.

The San Antonio Spurs have traded veteran guard Josh Richardson to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for guard Devonte' Graham and four second-round picks, per reports Thursday from Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Richardson had long been involved in trade rumors for the Spurs, who traded center Jakob Poeltl to the Toronto Raptors in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Richardson, who arrived to San Antonio in the trade last season that sent Derrick White to the Boston Celtics, was averaging 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists through 41 games this season with the Spurs. He's now set to join his sixth team after Thursday's trade.

As for Graham, the Spurs are getting a talented scoring guard, though he's in the midst of his worst season since his rookie year. Graham is averaging 5.3 points in 53 games this season, but has 11 points or more in each of the past three seasons, including a career-best 18.2 points with the Charlotte Hornets in the 2019-20 season.

Strangely enough, Graham scored a season-best 21 points on 6 of 11 3-point shooting in the 129-110 win over the Spurs at the AT&T Center on Nov. 23. He's now set to join his third team after being selected in the second round by the Atlanta Hawks (who traded him to Charlotte) in 2018.
