'Going To Be Scary!' Spurs' Devin Vassell Excited for Future With Victor Wembanyama

The San Antonio Spurs have an exciting young duo to build around for the future in Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell.

San Antonio Spurs rookie star Victor Wembanyama stole the show during the NBA's Monday night slate of games in a convincing 122-99 win over the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena with a performance to remember.

Wemby finished with his second-career triple-double in the win and could've flirted with a earth-shattering quadruple-double if not for some missed opportunities in the assist department, as he tallied 27 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and a career-high 10 blocks.

Luckily for Wembanyama, he already has a major on-court assist locked in for the future. Spurs guard Devin Vassell continues to show why he's a budding star alongside Wemby and admitted after the win that things could look "scary" for the rest of the league once they both continue to grow together.

"It's going to be scary to see what he's going to look like in the next three or four years, what our team chemistry is going to look like, what me and him playing as a duo is going to look like," Vassell said. " ... We have something good here."

Though it's Wemby who has understandably drawn most of the spotlight for the Spurs this season, Vassell has displayed an alpha-like scoring ability that could land him an All-Star berth in the next few seasons. Wembanyama is San Antonio's cornerstone, but Vassell is arguably second on the unofficial list of "untouchable" players currently on the roster.

In the win over Toronto, Vassell finished with 25 points on 5 of 7 shooting from deep to go along with six assists. This season, Vassell is averaging 19.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per night, which comes a year after he missed 44 games due to in-season knee surgery.

As for Wembanyama, he's leading the Spurs in points (20.4), rebounds (10.1), steals (1.1) and blocks (3.2), with the latter currently standing as a league-leading mark.

The Spurs will look to build on the momentum of Monday night's win when they visit the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.
