Phoenix Suns SG Devin Booker hasn't truly looked like the MVP candidate he proved himself to be earlier in the season.

Now, we have an answer why.

Booker has failed to score under 20 points in his last three games, and yesterday it was revealed that Booker was suffering from a hamstring injury.

Booker told The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin he would be good to go on Saturday.

However, the Suns ruled him out for Sunday's meeting with the New Orleans Pelicans

Booker didn't play the final minutes in Friday's loss, and Sunday will mark the first game all season he's missed.

"Just try to make the best decision for the team and for him," Suns coach Monty Williams said after the game. "I didn't like the way he was running. Sometimes I've got to protect him."

Booker was then classified as day-to-day on Saturday before being ruled out this morning. His next opportunity to return will come on Tuesday in a road game in Houston.

Damion Lee is expected to take his place.

Between Chris Paul and Cam Johnson, Phoenix has struggled to maintain a clean bill of health within their starting lineup.

Currently riding a three-game losing streak, it's a tall task to ask Phoenix to right the ship against New Orleans today.
