Naz Reid ejected from Timberwolves-Wizards game

Reid picked up a Flagrant 2 foul in the first quarter.

Timberwolves big man Naz Reid was ejected from Tuesday night's game against the Washington Wizards after catching Wizards guard Johnny Davis with an elbow while attempting to box him out during the first quarter at Target Center in Minneapolis.

After review, officials deemed that Reid made "unnecessary and excessive contact," which led to the ejection. It came at a tough time for the Wolves, who were trailing 31-17 at the time. They fell behind 44-26 after the first quarter of play.

“I didn’t see it when it happened, I got a quick look on the replay behind the bench, so I gotta look at it again," Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said of Reid's ejection postgame. "I don’t know how egregious it looked."

Even with Reid out of the game, the Timberwolves were able to rally to beat the Wizards 130-121 behind a career-high 51-point effort from Anthony Edwards. Nickeil Alexander-Walker provided a nice scoring boost off the bench, too, with 23 points.
