Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is growing into one of the top guards in all of basketball. An All-Star for the first time last season, Edwards has taken another leap forward this season, averaging a career high 26.7 PPG to go along with 5.4 RPG and 5.1 APG.

Putting up these numbers on a very good Minnesota Timberwolves team that has been at or near the top of the Western Conference all season, Edwards has solidified himself as one of the best players in the game. This was again on full display against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night when Edwards put up 30 PTS, 8 REB, and 8 AST to nearly lead his shorthanded group past the defending champions.

While Edwards missed the game-tying shot that would have forced overtime, his performance all game long kept his team in it, and caught the attention of reigning Finals MVP Nikola Jokic.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Jokic said, "[The Timberwolves] have [Anthony Edwards] who is probably one of the best players, most talented players in the NBA right now."

This was a strong statement from Jokic, but an accurate one, as Edwards continues to prove on a nightly basis just how good he is. The Timberwolves hope to make a deep playoff run this year, and it's hard to bet against their chances with a star like Edwards.
