Trail Blazers Executives Traveling Internationally To Scout Top 2024 Draft Prospect

Color us intrigued.

Your Portland Trail Blazers are very comfortable that they're going to be lottery-bound for the third straight season.

The team seems to be casting a wide international net when it comes to adding fresh talent.

To wit, Portland Trail Blazers team president/general manager Joe Cronin and assistant GM Mike Schmitz were on hand recently to check out 7'1" Perth Wildcats center Alex Sarr, considered to be a top lottery pick in next year's draft.

At 15-39, the Trail Blazers (who occupy the West's 14th seed) seem lined up for a primo draft selection this summer. It's unclear if all of the team's young guards, No. 3 2023 draft pick Scoot Henderson and incumbents Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe, can truly co-exist when the games start to matter.

But it makes sense that Portland is exploring building out the rest of its roster, positionally, in perhaps adding a new big man for its long-term Deandre Ayton replacement.
