Trail Blazers Injury Report: 6 Portland Players Out Vs Rockets

Will the surviving Blazers be able to mount any kind of significant challenge?

Your 17-44 Portland Trail Blazers remain severely banged up, with their 2023-24 NBA season almost mercifully, finally over. Just 21 contests remain this year. And then maybe, just maybe, Jody Allen will release fans from having to watch Chauncey Billups coaching.

In the mean time, there are technically still games to be played (and, theoretically, watched, although only true sadists are still doing that at this point, especially with a supposedly lackluster lottery class awaiting the tanking team this offseason).

Tonight's matchup is against the Houston Rockets, and is slated to be hosted by Portland at the Moda Center. Tipoff is 7 p.m PT.

But it will be done without a whopping six players. Earlier today, Portland announced that point guard Malcolm Brodgon (right elbow tendinitis) and shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe (lower abdominal surgery), and center Robert Williams III (right knee ligament tear) were all still out.

Just now, with the game moments away from tipoff, the team has announced that center Deandre Ayton, power forward Jerami Grant, No. 3 lottery pick point guard Scoot Henderson, and Jabari Walker would also be shelved tonight.

The 27-35 Rockets, to be fair, aren't a whole lot better. But Houston is healthier, and still seems interested in competing to... finish as the 11th seed, I guess? If that matters to anyone?
