Washington Wizards Struggling to Stop Oklahoma City Thunder, Down Six at Halftime

The Washington Wizards are trailing the Oklahoma City Thunder 67-61 at halftime.

It hasn't been terrible in the first half for the Washington Wizards but they still trail at the break to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

This is a tough matchup for any team in the league but the Wizards are in a really difficult position tonight trying to tame the high flying Thunder offense.

Washington is fighting though and they were able to cut the Oklahoma City lead to single digits before half.

Thunder center Chet Holmgren is really torching the Wizards defense inside, outside and in transition.

Holmgren has 17 points on 75 percent shooting which leads the team in scoring but not far behind is Oklahoma City guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 16 points.

Right before half Holmgren went down hard after skying for a rebound and seemed to hurt his wrist, his health will be an important piece going forward in this game especially with the damage he is doing.

The Thunder are really beating Washington down inside as they have a 34-22 advantage on points in the paint.

Wizards forwards Deni Avdija and Kyle Kuzma both had efficient first halves as Avdija had 10 points and Kuzma led the team with 14.

For Washington to come back they need to show more resistance down low and have much better transistion defense.
