As expected, the Bears put guard Kyle Long on injured reserve Monday but followed not by promoting guard Alex Bars from the practice squad but instead with a defensive move.

Defensive end Abdullah Anderson was promoted to the 53-man roster after Long went on IR. Also, the Bears then signed tight end Dax Raymond to the practice squad to take the spot vacated by Anderson.

The Bears will need Anderson for defensive line depth. Coach Matt Nagy on WBBM-AM 780 Monday morning said it's anticipated defensive end Akiem Hicks will be out for an extended time period with an arm injury suffered against the Raiders. He did say it's hoped Hicks would be able to return later in the season to play.

Anderson made one tackle while playing briefly against Washington and Minnesota when Hicks was plagued by a knee issue.

By not promoting Bars, the Bears could be signaling guard Ted Larsen is over a knee injury and ready to play. He suffered the injury against Minnesota and came out of the game, with tackle Rashaad Coward coming off the bench to replace him.
