Broncos Rift? What Von Miller's Remarks On Fangio's Criticism Really Mean

Does Von Miller get along with Vic Fangio? The seven-time Pro Bowler addressed the issue on Thursday.

Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio tells it like it is. That blunt approach, and his frankness in eye of public scrutiny, has led some to wonder whether Fangio's criticism of Von Miller is evidence of some sort of beef, or at the very least, a disconnect between player and coach.

Following the Broncos' first win of the season last week vs. the L.A. Chargers, Fangio was less than flowery in his take on Miller's performance in the game.

"I thought his rush was OK," Fangio said on Monday. "I think he’s capable of better, but he was coming free some and did help the pass defense in that way. Run defense was up and down a little bit and made some good plays. A lot of stuff was away from him. It was kind of uneventful.”

Again, not exactly a glowing compliment but at the same time, even Miller has to admit he's not off to a great start this year. In fact, outside of 2013 in which he was suspended the first six games, 2019 has easily been his worst start to a season.

Through five games, Miller has just two sacks and has failed to register QB takedown in four of the Broncos' five games. If you believe in coincidence, fine.

But the fact that Miller's down year has come in Fangio's maiden season as head coach and Denver's defensive play-caller, it's not outside the plausible to connect those dots. But that doesn't mean that a beef of any sort exists between the two.

GM John Elway weighed in on the topic of Fangio's public criticism of Miller earlier this week and in our first opportunity to hear from Von this week, he addressed the topic.

In the video above, I analyze Miller's remarks regarding his relationship with Vic Fangio. Is there any 'there' there? Or has this been a trope completely overblown by media? Hit the play button and you tell me in the comment section below
